I noticed that somebody found my blog yesterday by searching “how did dodgeball become a sport” in a search engine. I thought that was a great question, so I am looking for the answer.
So far I’ve only found a weak Wikipedia entry for “dodgeball” that it started in 1922, with no citation.

There are some hilarious theories on the Uncyclopedia site found here.

And I found some other theories on this site, such as Africa 600 years ago, in Germany, China using human heads and Akron, Ohio, which sounds the most believable.

Who knew finding out the history of dodgeball was like playing Balderdash? Does anybody have any other theories?
