Having offered Kickball and Touch Football in the fall and Dodgeball (Park Slope & Williamsburg) and Touch Football in the winter, this Spring, ZogSports will invite Brooklynites to play more Dodgeball in Park Slope and Touch Football Downtown

Early Registration: through February 15. Late Registration February 9-22. Most leagues run from mid-late March through June. The games take place in gyms at local public schools. For more information or to register, click here. A percentage of the proceeds goes to charity ($355K organization-wide, so far).

The UW chapter of the Washington Public Interest Research Group (WashPIRG) will sponsor a dodgeball tournament to raise funds for homeless youth and young adults in the U-District.

The goal is to raise at least $1,000 for the University District Service Providers Alliance, a coalition of nonprofit organizations in the U-District.

Five players are required per team and costumes are expected to be worn. The fee is $10 per person or a donation of canned food. Canned food items can also be donated at the door.

Prizes will be given to the team that raises the most money and the team with the most creative costumes. One final secret grand prize will be awarded to the tournament’s winner.

Carol Box Memorial Dodgeball Tournament

Proceeds from the event will benefit Oswego High School senior Cammeo Lazzaro, who suffered burns at a campfire in October.

Rules:

- teams of 6 (or more with subs)
- minimum two females on each team playing at any one time
- 16 year and up. If under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must sign a release form.

The memorial tournament was started in January to raise funds for a county employee and resident, Carol Box. Box suffered from lung cancer, and passed away in April. There tournament is now and annual event to provide money raised to a new family each year.

Get out there and dodge for a cause!

Hey everyone, great season and just wanted to let you all know registration is now open for the fall and considering we already have 5 NEW TEAMS already signed up (not to mention the 14 we have already been informed will be back), this season is going to be ridiculous. Make sure to secure a spot ASAP considering we can only have 28 teams. In addition, the BEACH PARTY is being set up now for late July and you will all be receiving an invite for that as well….see you all soon!!”

What a fun idea: a pool party, a la NYC block party style.

JELLYNYC (“an inter-media collaborative specializing in creating one of a kind experiences for our audiences and partners”) throws these “pool parties”, complete with bands and, of all things, dodgeball.

It looked like a blast.

I grabbed this photo, and read about this event, at New York Press, an alternative paper online.

“Get ready to duck again, dodgeball is back and this time it’s not just for the schoolyard. Class includes a gym style warm-up, 3-5 rounds of the game, abs and final stretch.”

I read about it on this “healthy living” Web site, Lime.com. They also have gyms in Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Atlanta and San Francisco.
